Happy Thursday, Everybody!
As we expand as a company, there will inevitably be a horde of "experts" and "advisors" who descend on us, trying to get a piece of the pie. So, now is the time to really put on our Critical Thinking caps. What is critical thinking? Well, in short, it's thinking for yourself. I feel that most schools fail children by neglecting to teach them how to question the validity of information. Even journalists, whose job it is to check facts and report them accurately, can often drop the ball when it comes to checking the quality of their information. When someone makes a claim, consider the following:
1) Does the person have a bias, or something to gain, by saying what they're saying?
2) How much experience does the person have regarding the subject matter? Do they have a proven track record?
3) What evidence do they have to support their claim? Is that evidence from reliable sources?
That's not to say that you should be that annoying skeptical jerk who needs to poke holes in everything, saying "Prove it! Prove it!" However, making even a minor effort to validate the things you hear can save you a lot of grief. Take things with a grain of salt, and form your own conclusions.
