Sleep on it Mon, Oct 19, 2015
I'm certain all of you understand the importance of sleep and know when you've not had enough. I also realize life happens and it's not always possible for you to have optimal hours of sleep. However, as you know, sleep and recovery are vital to your overall health.
Robb Wolf is a former Navy SEAL veteran and MD doctor who has spent a lot time studying the impact of sleep on health and performance. One of his main goals is to dispel the notion that getting by on less sleep is admirable and that less sleep makes you stronger, more productive, healthier, and happier. His research and experiences have indicated the exact opposite.
Here's his 7-day Sleep Challenge for you to evaluate. He reminds us, transformation does not happen easily.
1. Black-out the entire room you sleep in.
2. Turn off any electronic device like the TV or a tablet at least 1 hour before you go to bed.
3. Go to bed at the same time every night.
4. If you read before going to sleep, do it in another room and utilize breathing exercises, visualization, or mediation practices to help initiate sleep.
5. Do this for 7 days!
