Counterfeit Belts Mon, Jul 13, 2015
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Orlando recently announced the seizure of "...314 counterfeit Gucci, Fendi, and Salvatore Ferragamo leather belts with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $128,000." The belts had a mailing address from Hong Kong and were shipped to Orlando addresses. If you are curious how many seizures the CBP makes, in 2014 they "...made more than 23,000 seizures of counterfeit goods worth an estimated $1.2 billion." Considering, these are just items they seized and there are likely additional counterfeit goods in the market, that's quite staggering how this is a billion dollar industry.
On one hand, counterfeit goods are proof of one's success, however, they can have a devasting impact on a company. As SlideBelts continues to grow and given we've already seen a few other companies attempt to use the name SlideBelts, this is a very important area we'll have to continue to monitor. Please continue to inform me, Michelle, and Brig about any questionable SlideBelts products you come across or are informed about. Thanks.
