On 2/5/15, RadioShack filed for bankruptcy. They are a cautionary tale concerning adaptation and innovation. Look at their store growth from 1963-1987 (image from http://www.fastcompany.com/3042101/the-rise-of-radioshack):
Now ask yourself, when was the last time you purchased something from them? What was your experience like?
It is worth noting, RadioShack was a significant lab for some of the most innovative minds and therefore, they've had a huge influence on technology. WIRED recently had a good article describing how leaders such as Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) and Michael Dell (founder of Dell) purchased items from there and used these items in some of their first products. In addition, RadioShack served as a training lab for countless people like Woz & Dell to explore and interact with technology.
RadioShack's story demonstrates why it's so important to keep adapting and innovating while providing positive interactions and positive experiences for guests. Furthermore, it's why Michelle and Brig have made these aspects such a focus of our identity here at SlideBelts. Let us all learn from RadioShack. Enjoy your Tuesday and keep moving forward!
