In ReWork by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson (founders of 37signals which created Basecamp), they mention three 4-letter words one should never use in business:
1. Need - Instead, replace with, "What do you think about this?" or "How does this sound?"
2. Can't - You can!
3. Easy - This often means, "Get it done." Be aware that someone else's tasks might not be easy.
They caution how such words can create absolutes that are competing against each other, therefore making it extremely difficult to find a solution. Yes, in certain situations, these words can be applicable. However, don't deny yourself any possibility of the middle ground. Remain fluid to the situations that arise here at SlideBelts and stay resolute in seeking out solutions.
