Fear of the Unknown Tue, Mar 15, 2016
If it's Wednesday morning and you're reading this, I'm probably in the air on my way to Nevada for Rapport Leadership training. If you've been within earshot of the warehouse the past few weeks when I've been grilling Matt and Rick, trying to get any information at all out of them, you know that I'm a bit anxious about this experience :)
I've heard nothing but great things from those in the office who've already gone, but that fear of the unknown can be hard to overcome. I like to think that I have a pretty laid back, "go with the flow" personality, but this has shown me that might not always be the case.
I think that, ultimately, fearing the unknown comes down to a fear of what the outside of your comfort zone feels like. The only way to combat that is to to put yourself in situations where you're uncomfortable, where you're being pushed, where you're feeling some of that (healthy) anxiety.
So after weeks of wayyy too much over-thinking, I'm finally on my way and I am, dare I say, a little excited? I'm all for self-improvement, for working on being a better version of myself, both professionally and personally. This experience will, undoubtedly, help me to do that. I've been guaranteed that it won't be easy - but the things that are worth it never really are, right?
While I'm gone I hope everyone will watch every minute of the first round NCAA tournament games in my honor and I expect you all to wear Kentucky blue on Thursday and tune into CBS at approximately 6:40pm to watch UK take down Stony Brook since I won't be able to. Most importantly, I hope you'll all send me good vibes to bring home the sword (whatever that means). Cheers to a great rest of the week!
